Those who are planning to build a serious home theater must be looking for a set of home theater with some surround speakers. Surround speakers are the marker of a home theater set since they have the capability of producing the sound that will envelope the audience in the room in such a way that they can feel the sensation of watching a movie in a cinema. It is the work of surround speakers when the audience feels the sound from their sides, center, or back. At this point, a surround speaker would do the task of providing the sound from one side, and another one from another side, and so on.
A surround speaker is an important part to the entire system and this means that you should be considering some points when you are purchasing a surround speaker as an additional speaker to the existing home theater set. First, consider the type of the speaker whether you are going to place it on the floor, on the wall, on the stand, or in the ceiling. The decision will determine the type of surround speaker that you are going to purchase.
Second, consider the balance. Separately sold speakers from the brand that is the same as that you have at home are more likely to have the balanced sound that would fit the speakers at home. However, the surround speaker from other brands can also have the required balance as long as you know the specification of the ones you have at home. In case you are not very sure of what you are actually looking for, just jot down the specification of your home theater speakers and bring it to the store so that the store assistant can help you choose the surround speaker that suit what you have.
Third, consider the sound cone and coil materials. Do not feel hesitate to scrutinize the materials of the cone as they will determine the lifetime of the surround speaker. The cone materials range from fiberglass, plastics and metal. The harder the materials that the cones are made of, the longer the lifetime of the surround speaker that you are going to buy. The coil materials are made of certain type of metal such as titanium. Surely the price goes with quality, the surround speaker with the coil made of titanium are usually more costly than those made of other types of materials.
