The crucial part of music device is actually not the device itself since the device does not convey sound to the listener’s ears. It is the speakers that determine whether the music is nice to hear or not. There is a wide array of speaker types that you can get on the market, however, if you are confined by the space and budget availability, bookshelf speakers are probably the ones that you are looking for. There are two basic reasons of why these types are worth considering.
The first reason is bookshelf speakers are not very large, at least of course not as large as the floor standing types. With a smaller cabinet, a bookshelf speaker will nicely fit on a shelf or stand, so it saves quite a lot of space of a room. Even though physically they are not too big, bookshelf speakers are not disappointing in performance. This means that with limited budget, you still can get a quality sound performance with these speaker types.
The second reason is that bookshelf speakers offer tight sound overall and accurate stereo imaging. With the height of twelve to fifteen inches, these speakers are of convenient size which will not be overwhelming the room. However, unlike the bigger type of speakers, a bookshelf speaker does not have the ability to provide the low bass frequencies the way the bigger ones do. As a consequence, many people accompany the bookshelf speakers with a powered subwoofer to get the deep bass frequencies.
The third reason is that bookshelf speakers are available in almost every price range, so you can estimate the expense based on your budget. Typically, quality goes with price and these speaker types also come in a variety of makes and qualities. The difference in material quality characterizes the price, so the sound quality should more or less be equal.
Since bookshelf speakers have been designed to fit in a medium sized room, the fact that it cannot produce the low bass frequencies should not be a problem since the volume for the music in a medium sized room will not be as loud as it is in a large room where low bass frequencies are needed. Such large rooms as a dance floor inevitably needs a larger speaker with bigger capacity.
